omaha-police-release-mall-shooter-photos.jpgThree days after Wednesday’s mall shooting in Omaha, Nebraska, and two victims remain hospitalized, one in critical condition. Funerals begin on Monday for the eight victims shot dead by teenage gunman Robert Hawkins, before he killed himself.

On Friday, Omaha police released photos taken from surveillance video inside the Von Maur department store. It was inside the upscale store at Westroads Mall where the gunfire erupted as Hawkins stepped off an elevator. A suicide note left by Hawkins was also released, in which he wrote, “I’m so sorry for this. I’ve just snapped,” and remarked that he would now be famous.

The Westroads Mall reopens Saturday, but the Von Maur store remains closed. Flowers and notes are piling up outside the store, in remembrance of the five women and three men who died in the rampage.
