Subtropical Storm Gabrielle Headed for North Carolina Coast

On the heels of destruction from Hurricanes Dean, Felix and Henriette, comes word that a hurricane could be in the making in the Atlantic, off the coast of the Carolinas.
This one goes by the name Gabrielle, and as of Saturday afternoon she was classified as a subtropical storm. Her path continues northward toward North Carolina, but storm watches and warnings are also in effect for Virginia.

The National Hurricane Center reported at 2:00 p.m. Saturday that Gabrielle was 240 miles southeast of Cape Lookout, North Carolina. The storm’s center is expected to reach the North Carolina coast on Sunday, with outer rain bands moving in by Saturday night.
Gabrielle’s winds were clocked at 45 MPH, and she’s forecast to grow slightly in strength by Sunday.
