Hurricane Felix, born in the eastern Caribbean on Saturday morning, became a Category 2 storm in less than 24 hours.
The storm is on a path for the Netherlands Antilles islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, where it is expected to pass over on Sunday. Forecasters say Jamaica is also a possible target.
Hurricane Felix is the second named storm of the 2007 season. The U. S. National Hurricane Center said Felix had maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour Saturday night, with higher gusts, and by Sunday morning had increased winds of 100 miles per hour. Felix is expected to build in strength over the next few days before making landfall.

The storm’s projected path has it slamming ashore somewhere in Central America or southern Mexico as early as Tuesday night.
It was only two weeks ago that Hurricane Dean killed more than 20 people as it swept by Martinique, St. Lucia and other islands in the Lesser Antilles before hammering Jamaica and the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico and moving inland.
