One week from today, Her Majesty, the Queen of England will pay the United States a five-day visit.

According to a Buckingham Palace press release, Queen Elizabeth will be accompanied by her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, on the official state visit from May 3 – 8.

The main purpose of her visit is to attend the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement in Virginia from May 3 -4.

On May 5, the Queen will attend the Kentucky Derby, then round out her U. S. trip with a stop in Washington, D. C. from May 6 – 8, for a visit hosted by President and Mrs. Bush.

This is the third U. S. state visit for the Queen and Duke. The first took place in the fall of 1957.
